Book Review: Passion By Lauren Kate

Passion: Book Three of the Fallen Series

Luce would die for Daniel.

And she has. Over and over again. Throughout time, Luce and Daniel have found each other, only to be painfully torn apart: Luce dead, Daniel left broken and alone. But perhaps it doesn’t need to be that way. . . .

Luce is certain that something—or someone—in a past life can help her in her present one. So she begins the most important journey of this lifetime . . . going back eternities to witness firsthand her romances with Daniel . . . and finally unlock the key to making their love last.

Cam and the legions of angels and Outcasts are desperate to catch Luce, but none are as frantic as Daniel. He chases Luce through their shared pasts, terrified of what might happen if she rewrites history.

Because their romance for the ages could go up in flames . . . forever.
(From GoodReads)

I came into the third installment of the Fallen series with what seemed like a notebook filled with questions. With Torment there were more questions added to the mix and very, very few answers which provided mass confusion and frustration. This left Passion as a must read.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with the tumble through Luce and Daniel’s history. Thankfully SEVERAL of my questions were finally answered. Finally. At the same time with all the tumbling through history we didn’t spend much time in any one of the histories to get a true to life sense of the era. While we were provided what was necessary for the story I didn’t feel truly immersed in the time zone so to speak.

The book felt frantically paced. Since Daniel is chasing Luce through the history to catch her before she does anything stupid I can understand why. However, this also leaves a feeling of “what just happened?” I found myself reading over a few sections several times just to make sure I didn’t miss any important details hidden in the frantic pace.

Overall I think this was an important installment to the Fallen series. While it doesn’t answer ALL my burning questions, since most of them have answers now I’m content. This does provide most of the missing details to Luce and Daniel’s history as well as some insight to the history of those closest to them.

I’m intrigued to see what the final installment of the Fallen series will bring. I am hoping Rapture provides a spell binding ending that leaves everything firmly in its place and our couple happy.

Passion held me captivated from page one to the final paragraph. It’s a fast paced, action filled book. Find some quiet time, you’ll not want to be interrupted until the end.

  1. I've been on the fence about this book series in general. The reviews have been lukewarm at best, but if you can tough it out for all three books, it might be worth reading. This is a great starter review, keep up the good work!

  2. What's bad is there's one book left. Rapture and it comes out I believe May 2012. I've also heard Disney bought the licenses for the books. O_o...

  3. When I read this book, I wasn't sure what to think. I've always felt- to put it in Penny's words- lukewarm. Like maybe I like it, maybe I don't. May 2012 is still too long a wait though.
